A parents/carers guide to Tuff Trays

Exciting tuff tray ideas

Tuff trays are also known as tuff spots. They are perfect for holding sand and water and can be either used on the ground, on a table  or on height adjustable stands. The more tuff tray activities are embraced, the more we discover how fantastic these are for children. Here at Daisykins Nursery in Rugby, we are a big fan of tuff trays, mainly  because they create endless activities and fun.To many parents/carers, at first glance, a tuff tray may not seem very exciting. To children, a tuff tray activity is a fun, adventurous, magical experience that they cannot wait to explore. Creating small world themes within a tuff tray will spark the children's imagination and play. Adding further natural items such as logs, sticks and stones found in the outdoors can bring the small world play alive.[ngg src="galleries" ids="249" display="basic_slideshow"]Tuff Trays can be filled with just about anything. Fairy Tuff Tray

This magical tuff tray activity will be popular with the children, creating plenty of magical moments. Activities like these enable the children to use their language as a powerful means of sharing experiences and thoughts. As children stand around the tray playing alongside each other, practitioners are able to observe and judge the best time to join in the play. Taking the adventures above and beyond and extending the learning opportunities.[gallery ids="7239,7240,7241"]

Making Flower Potions

Gather pots, bowls and spoons from your kitchen cupboard and arrange them in an inviting way in the tuff tray. Either use plastic or real flowers and add these to the tray. This simple but effective activity will encourage children’s make-believe play, also providing opportunities for their language to develop.

Construction Tuff Tray

Fill the Tuff Tray with either lentils, cornflakes or other dry foods that can be scooped up using diggers. Placing the Tuff Tray on the floor will enable  further, play opportunities as the children transport the lentils from the tray to another area of the room. For more ideas on how to use a tuff tray click hereWe would love to see your child engaging in a tuff tray activity at home.
