"There's No Such Thing as a Zaggaro!"

The children in Toddler Room and Pre-School Minors at Daisykins Day Nursery in Rugby were thrilled with excitement when they met Dominique from Zoolab, who brought her creepy crawly friends to meet them all!

Julia Donaldson's classic 'The Gruffalo' is a firm favourite amongst the children and seemed the perfect choice for the Zoolab experience. Based around this fantastic story, Domique told the story of 'The Zaggaro', a rat who scared all the creatures in the wood. As the story evolved and another creature was described, the children were introduced to one of Dominique's friends. The first had one slimy trail, two big antennas and a long slimy trail wherever he goes...

The children moved around like slimy snails, before then meeting Sammy Snail. Some of the children were eager to stroke him, some wanted to wave to him and some were even brave enough to hold him! Next they met a creature with eight lengthy legs, two huge eyes and lots of hair all over his back...

The rat continued his story as he walked through the deep dark woods when he came across another creature with wet, scaly legs, jumping up and down. Why, frog, hello!

Next on his adventure was a slithering, hissing, fast snake with a thin, pink tongue. The practitioners were incredibly proud of the courageous children who touched, stroke and held the snake as he came round to see them all.

It was finally time to meet the creature that rat spoke of whilst on his travels. He had two sharp teeth, big red eyes and a long pink tail...HELP!....OH NO!....IT'S THE...ZAGGARO!

The children behaved impeccably well through-out this fantastic hands on experience and the practitioner's were incredibly pleased with them. They discussed the creatures they saw, the story of 'The Zaggaro' and what they had learnt. We are looking forward to seeing some of their follow up activities that the practitioner's are planning to extend their learning further!
