Learning about what dinosaurs eat

The dinosaurs were out and about in the Pre School Minors room exploring their new room for the week. Over the last week children have been learning all about the different types of dinosaurs and which ones eat leaves, meat or fish. Practitioners added the different dinosaurs to the sand tray along with plastic trees, small pieces of brown felt and they made a rock pool in the middle with some water. After a discussion about which dinosaurs eat what the children were able to identify the dinosaurs that eat leaves and the ones that eat fishes"Diplodocus eats leaves and the stegosaurus eats meat" said one child. The children moved the dinosaurs around the tray, they gave them a wash in the rock pool and went off to met up with some of their other dinosaur friends. This activity was a great source of learning as children had fun playing with their friends but more importantly they learnt some interesting facts about dinosaurs.
