It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas at Daisykins Day Nursery in Rugby

Singing Christmas carols, eating mince pies and dancing in the snow...What more could you need to put you in the festive mood?

Every month Daisykins Day Nursery in Rugby host a parent/carer event in which each child's family are invited into the setting to engage in a fun developmental activity. On Wednesday 18th December 2019 the setting held a Christmas Carols Parent/Carer Evening and were delighted to see lots of people arrive for a 5pm start.

After a brief welcome from Natalie, our Nursery Manager, the children were given a clue to work out which song they were going to sing. The first question asked the children what they would sing if they were dashing through the snow. The answer was of course 'Jingle Bells'!

Natalie, our Makaton trained specialist, led the carols supporting the children to remember the Makaton signs to each song. We even saw some of the parents/carers joining in, copying Natalie's movements!

After singing a few songs the children were asked which insect was made to freeze in the snow, which was a great excuse to turn the snow machine on! ('Incy Wincy Spider Climbed Up the Christmas Tree' for those of you still trying to work this clue out)

The children (and parents/carers!) giggled away as they ran around in the snow, singing various Christmas songs. As the children played, their families indulged in some delicious homemade mince pies made by Wendy, our fantastic chef, and socialised with each other.

'We Wish You a Merry Christmas' echoed around the outdoor area, the snow fell to the ground and the crumbs scattered across the plates as the festivities came to an end. With lots of great comments from children, parents/carers and staff, the evening was a real success!

Daisykins Day Nursery in Rugby's next parent/carer will be hosted on Thursday 23rd January 2020 from 5pm-6pm and will be focused on the theme of Chinese New Year. We hope to see you all there!
