Toddlers Christmas Craft Morning

The next to have a turn was Toddler room and again some mums and dads came in to join in the activities. After proving to be a hit at the previous one a rice tray was set up again, this time with different coloured rice, glitter, sequins and bells. The children again enjoyed emptying and filling the containers and they enjoyed shaking the bells to hear the noises that they made. A practitioner told one of the children to shake the bell to see what noise it made but instead the child started to shake on the spot themselves and said “I shake, shake”. Another activity the children took part in was decorating gingerbread men using icing sugar and marshmallows. Practitioners and parents encouraged the children to squeeze the red and green icing pens onto the gingerbread men biscuits and then add marshmallows. One of the children attempted to copy a practitioner's’ gingerbread man design, adding eyes, a mouth and attempting to draw trousers and a top. The Toddlers seemed to enjoy making their biscuits, but not as much as having a sneaky munch on them and the ingredients! The Toddlers used the glue sticks to spread the glue onto their cards and then added glitter and different shaped sequins to make their own designs. The children were given the opportunity to take part in the activities they wanted to and were able to free flow between them giving them the chance to make their own choices. They were encouraged to be independent and complete tasks themselves. To read further about the Pre-School and Pre-School Minors Christmas craft mornings please keep your eye out for the next article
