Shapes in the garden

The children in Pre-school all had lots of fun learning about shapes through an outdoor play experience. Different sized and coloured shapes were hidden in the garden area and then an exciting game was created by practitioners, where children had to look around the garden to find a particular shape.Creating excitement and enthusiasm about any experience creates the best learning experience for children and the practitioners at Daisykins really got the children involved. This was a very rich learning experience for the children as they were all active in their learning running around, laughing, racing, searching high and low for the correct shapes. Along with this being a fantastic opportunity for the children to develop their mathematical skills and vocabulary, it also enabled the children to develop physical and social skills. The children were all very keen to run, walk slowly, climb the climbing frames, search through trees and squat down low all important milestones in the EYFS for children to reach. The children all formed natural friendship groups to help each other find the right shapes, they had to communicate effectively with one another and they all displayed great team work skills.
