Out and about in the Community

Daisykins Nursery gets involved in the Local Community

Daisykins Nursery loves opportunities to get involved in the local community of Rugby, Warwickshire. It is important for the children to understand more about the community in which they live. Being involved in the community supports the seven areas of learning and development, promotes British Values and enables the children to learn more about their own local culture.

The Daisykins Preschool children make regular visits to a local care home. This is really enjoyed by the children and the residents at the care home. They go and talk to the residents, share stories and often have a sing-song. This is a wonderful time for the children to build relationships and learn a lot from the older generation. It enhances communication skills, gives the children a chance to learn more about the world around them and builds personal, social and emotional skills.

Visit to Granville House during Christmas period

Daisykins Nursery also has close links with Rugby Bid, who are the Rugby Rangers who across the town centre building community events and keeping the citizens of Rugby town safe. Rugby bid come in to the Nursery and hold sessions with the children teaching them about stranger danger, keeping themselves safe and useful knowledge about Rugby town. They share information with the children such as where there are safety points, how they can contact the Rangers and what to do should they get lost in the town.

Daisykins Nursery also regularly take donations and start collections to support the local food banks. This is important in supporting the local community and those less fortunate. The parents, practitioners and children at Daisykins are always keen to get involved and donate whatever they are able. These are particularly helpful to the local community when food bank supplies are running low or are in high demand.

Getting involved in supporting the local community and giving the children opportunities to learn more about the town and culture of Rugby is incredibly beneficial to everyone.
