Our new outdoor learning classroom

An outdoor learning classroom has been created for the children at Daisykins Nursery. The outdoor classroom will enable children to fully embrace the seven areas of the EYFS. Practitioners have spent time looking at how best to organise this area, providing children with the opportunity to freely access a range of activities such as sand play, mark making, painting and construction play. As a large fixed wooden gazebo shelters the outdoor learning classroom, this allows children to access this area in all weathers. When playing outside practitioners support children on their journey of learning, asking open-ended questions and enhance their play with further resources. The children were very eager to participate in activities set up in the learning outdoor classroom, they looked at what resources were available and then sat at the tables to explore them further. Children used the note books to write shopping lists, while others painted a picture for their loved ones. The children were very intrigued by a dinosaur world that was created by a practitioner; they were able to name the dinosaurs.Children used their gross motor skills to dig in the sand, they scooped up the sand and filled their buckets to the top. With the support of a practitioner, they made sandcastles and were very eager to knock them down.
