Getting around-Painting footprints
Children in toddlers had a very messy afternoon creating there colourful footprint collage. Toddlers have been looking at transport for their current topic due to their keen interest in cars. To display another form of transport the children’s footprints were used to display walking. Trays were filled with different coloured paint and then a giant piece of paper was placed on the floor.
The children’s shoes and socks were taken off and also some off the staff also took their shoes and socks off to get involved as well. With some gentle encouragement and some support from important key persons the children all joined in dipping their feet in the paint and then walking around to leave colourful footprints everywhere. Toddlers spent a long time creating their master piece and practitioners were on hand the give praise and show every child how much their work was valued which is very important to children’s holistic development. After the children had finished the activity they washed their feet and were all very proud of their picture clapping, pointing and smiling to show practitioners their creation. This was a lovely experience for the children to take part in and allowed them an opportunity to explore media in a different way and learn more about their own bodies.
