Dressing up fun at Rugby Nursery

What shall I be today?

Children at the new Rugby Nursery on Bailey road just of the M6 couldn't wait to get dressed up. The children took it in turns to be different characters such as the Gingerbread Man, Red Riding Hood, The little Mermaid and many others. In today's dressing up session at our Rugby Nursery the Gingerbread man costume was the firm favourite. The children re-enacted the story using the repeated phases from the story 'Run Run as fast as you can you can't catch me I'm the gingerbread man'. Practitioners stood back and watched this child led activity and listened to the attention and detail put into the retelling of the story, however it wasn't long before the children were introducing the adults into their play and asking them to be the gingerbread man. Many people wonder why dressing up is a firm favourite with children. Dressing up is available for children at all times of the day at our Rugby nursery as we truly believe it allows children to freely express themselves whilst developing their imagination skills. For some children dressing up gives them that opportunity to be someone else for a short period of time.
