What makes daisykins day nursery in Rugby different?

'Specialism' in a Rugby nursery? Why is this good for my child?

Every single EYFS practitoner at daisykins nursery in Rugby has a broad range of skills to contribute to this outstanding childcare. Traditionally, a practitioners role has not encouraged a channel of opportunity for specific interests, this is why daisykins nursery is different.

'Specialisms' allow nursery practitioners to use their knowledge and experience in one exciting area of interest, very similar to teachers having specialist skills, such as Music, Maths, Drama, Dance or Arts. Daisykins Rugby is the only nursery in the UK to offer this exciting role, which allows practitioners to expand and develop their knowledge, whilst giving them an enormous sense of achievement. This in turn benefits daisykins children, as practitioner enthusiasm is infectious and really helps to encourage learning in a fun and passionate way.

Daisykins children are encouraged to meet all members of our Rugby nursery team, each practitioner having a particular Specialism offering new and different insights into quality practice. This helps in a seamless transition as chidren get older, moving from one age group to the next, they will have already got to know and enjoyed time with every practitioner from Specialism activities. This practitioner role also plays a vital part in promoting the child's well-being.

Messy Play

Messy play is a specialism that’s gets the children very involved and of course messy at the same time! It can be adapted for all ages to join in with. The children are given the opportunity to use their senses to explore the texture of different things in their own particular way.  For example playing with angel delight, crazy soap or custard.  The children can run their fingers and toes through the custard, they can rub the angel delight all over the tummies and explore the texture the way they want to.

This specialism helps the children to build on their fine motor skills and develop their gross motor skills. For example, covering their hands with custard and then making large clapping movements to observe what happens.

Whilst the children are participating in different experiences Fran will engage with them and through careful questioning will help them to understand basic concepts.

Singing with Kim

Singing with Kim is a fun and enjoyable language enriched experience. She allows the children to choose their songs, these can be action songs, number songs or even songs that require props. Having this opportunity and access to regular singing is an excellent foundation for developing sound awareness skills. During these singing experiences, Kim uses a variety of resources to engage the children. She helps them to learn songs in a verbal manner, through the use of props and visual symbols. Through singing with Kim children learn and enjoy making up songs that rhyme. They also have actions to join in with and the songs can be adapted to each childs' interests and needs.

Songs contain many aspects of early literacy skills. Singing with Kim will provide the children with a holistic and life long love of language and the skills for learning to read.
