This month Daisykins Nursery in Rugby has been open for 15 years so to celebrate we held a Hawaiian themed party on Wednesday 6th September. Practitioners and children were encouraged to come to nursery in Hawaiian themed costumes and clothes, including grass skirts and flower garlands.
The reception area was decorated with palm trees, a Hawaiian themed bar and the mini bus was turned into a Hawaiian themed photo booth. Throughout the day children were encouraged to come down to reception in small groups to take part in different activities including a beach themed tuft spot, making their own mini fruit salads and creating their own fruit juice mocktails.
Within the rooms children also took part in Hawaiian themed activities including exotic fruit tasting, drawing their own interpretations of pineapples, making their own mini palm trees and of course lots of water play!
In the garden we had a bouncy castle with slide and the rooms took it in turns to go outside so that all children could have a turn, both in the morning and afternoon. We also had a coconut shy for the children to attempt to have a go at and knock the coconuts off.
For pudding the children were able to decorate their own ice creams and were given the option to choose their own toppings and flavour of sauce. The children really enjoyed doing this and found them very yummy!
At the end of the day the Hawaiian bar was set up as an ice cream parlour and children were able to take an ice cream home with them or a piece of cake! Overall a fun day was had by all and we look forward to the next 15 years! We would like to also take this opportunity to thank all the staff at Daisykins for their hard work and the parents and children for their continued support!
